RED DEER COUNTY, ALBERTA
About Pine Lake, Alberta
Welcome to Pine Lake, a family destination, where one can enjoy camping and lake activities with the whole family. Pine Lake is beautifully set in a wooded valley just south east of Red Deer, Alberta. This long narrow lake is popular for summer activities such as swimming, waterskiing/wakeboarding, boating, hiking and recreational fishing, in both summer and winter.
The Pine Lake community works hard to maintain the cleanliness and serenity of the lake, and encourages all visitors to take part in the various informational activities to learn and take care of the lake they love. It is a small lake in a rich rolling agricultural area with a watershed of about 120 square kilometres. This beautiful lake is home to many summer and full time residents, cottages around the lake shore. Trails and golf courses are just the few things that the Pine Lake area offers.
Pine Lake is fed by streams and intermittent creeks during the spring run off and after rain storms. Pine Lake is complex in that during times of drought there is no external water sources, however the water level is maintained by aquifers and the natural water table. In the last 40 years, the average lake fluctuation from spring to fall has been 40cm. This unique community is dedicated to working together to keep the lake as natural as possible. The community approach to cleaning up the lake and surrounding area they love is on-going and has noticeable results.
